It’s always satisfying when we learn new things, and sometimes the mundane are as satisfying as any, like how to maneuver the train schedules, as it makes you feel like you are starting to belong and know what you are doing…
So we a second trip back out to Dieppe to further explore the town and look at a few properties. We had plans with two different agents and then to meet up with a gentlemen that was looking to rent his flat, more on that later.
I must hand it to those that buy a property sight unseen, as what we have viewed on line and then in real life was a sad disappointment, save 1. So we carry on. We toyed with the thought of renting a flat in Dieppe and so one of the realtors introduced us to Laurence, a man of many interesting tales and an interesting career in Opera. He met us for a drink and then off to see the flat. Ok, I will admit it. The stairs up alone would either kill me or make me stronger, jury is out. Great view, but as much as Jeff and I enjoy each other, after an extended time we might be at odds. No place to run to, no place to hide, as it was quite cozy.
After gently sharing our views with Laurence we all went to enjoy the sunset and a light supper along the beach. What a wonderful time and a new acquaintance to boot!
We returned to the heat of Paris and hunkered down through the holiday weekend. Bastille Day is being celebrated on the 13th in Paris this year, as recognition of the 10th anniversary of the events in Nice on July 14th.
As the saying goes, ” best laid plans of mice and men often go awry” so goes the hunt for a home. We have decided to open our aperture and perhaps look to rent in Paris, as we explore.
