A bit remiss

It has been awhile, so much to catch up on. We have taken the month to continue to explore along the Alabaster Coast as we try to find out where we will land. Normandy or Paris.

We have taken quick overnights to see if the towns “speak” to use as we wander the streets. An overnight trip out to Le Treport gave us a feel of a sleepy beach resort that retains the feel of the 19th century with it’s boardwalk and it’s architecture. Very much the colorful gingerbread detail and design of grand old homes that face the sea. You could imagine the town in it’s glory, but most of the “grand dames” have become B&Bs as a way to stay alive. Pretty, but not our forever home.

So back to Paris we go. The interesting thing in trying to rent in Paris is the challenge with the lease. There are different kinds of leases and most of the rentals that we have seen will only rent under a Civil Lease, which is for either a second home or a business, so our options have been very limited. So, we pivoted back to Normandy and continued the property hunt in earnest.

I must say that I have a new admiration for those folks who were or are brave enough to buy a place with out visiting the property. We have been seriously looking at property on line and now we have been able to visit a number of them, oh my. Definitely not as advertised. We toured homes in Puy, Le Havre, Dieppe, Mountivillers, Honfleur, to no avail. We press on.

In the meantime we are back in Le Havre for the month of August, as we were only in our Paris flat for June and July. Trying to locate a Paris rental for the balance of the year, as we continue our search.

This was a very comfortable landing spot for us.

I will admit I miss our little Paris apartment, a/c or not. The pictures above are from our flat. Full moon reflecting over the roof tops

This residence in Le Havre is a bit depressing, but you can do anything for a month, right?

We are off to Ireland next week to visit with a good friend so time away from our Apart/hotel is a good thing.
